RPers name: Dustin
Full Name: James Howlett aka Logan
Code Name: Wolverine
Gender: male
General Appearance: Logan is a larger man compared to his counterpart in the 616 universe. Logan stands at five feet nine inches tall and just under three hundred pounds giving him a taller and more then look then the Wolverine of old. Wolverine's hair is also a bit longer and flows down his head or pulled back into a pony tail and Logan also has a chin goatee. Ultimate Universe Wolverine does not wear a cowl but his uniform has a fairly similar look except rather then the yellow and blue color scheme, he uses a black and gold colored uniform.
Personality: Logan is essentially several layers of a person that come together to make him who he is essentially. One of the biggest parts and arguably Logan’s driving force is rage. Intense anger constantly smolders inside him. Although he’s worked hard to control it, he has been known to unleash that rage in battle making him the most dangerous X-men. Beneath the anger lies a man who has loved and lost more times than anyone should have to. The loyalty he’s shared with those he’s loved is a permanent part of him and one of his most endearing qualities, his utter inability to ignore a friend in need. Even so, Wolverine does his best work solo, often dropping off the X-men’s charts long off to settle a personal vendetta or just roam.
Occupation: Mercenary
Super Power:
Regenerative Healing Factor: Wolverine's primary mutant ability is an accelerated healing factor that enables him to regenerate damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Wolverine is capable of healing from injuries that result in extensive tissue damage or loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, punctures, and severe burns within a matter of hours. Later it has been said that maybe he doesn't have a regenerative healing factor but instead a super advanced surviving ability, that modifies the body to survive in many different enviroments normally deadly for an usual human being.
Disease Resistances: Wolverine's healing factor has also extended to his immune system. He is immune to all known Earthly diseases and infections.
Toxin Resistance: His body is also immune to most drugs and toxins. He can still be affected by some drugs, such as tranquilizers for example, but only if he's exposed to massive doses.
Extended Longevity: The unique regenerative qualities of his healing factor has extended Wolverine's natural life span. He ages at a pace that is considerably slower than that of an ordinary human. It is known that he served during World War II and has the same appearance now as he did then. While he is of an advanced age, he retains the appearance and vitality of a man in his physical prime.
Superhumanly Acute Senses: Wolverine possesses superhumanly acute senses that are comparable to those of certain animals. He is capable of seeing, with perfect clarity, at much greater distances than an ordinary human. He retains this same level of clarity even in near-total darkness. His sense of hearing is similarly enhanced, allowing him to detect sounds that ordinary humans can't and at great distances. His sense of smell is developed to the point that he can detect slight chemical differences in products that are said to have the same scent, such as being able to detect different brands of deodorant. He is able to fully remember the scents of people he has encountered, even if he hasn't detected their scent in years. He typically uses his heightened sense of smell to track a target with an impressive degree of success, even of the target's scent has been eroded somewhat by natural factors.
Superhuman Strength: Wolverine's mutant healing factor enables him to exert his muscles to greater extremes than an ordinary human, enabling him to lift more weight than even the finest human athlete. That, coupled by having 100 pounds of Adamantium bonded to his skeleton, grants him some degree of superhuman strength. While the exact limit isn't known, it is sufficient to lift in excess of 800 lbs .
Superhuman Stamina: Wolverine's musculature, due to his healing powers, generate considerably less fatigue toxins than the musculature of an ordinary human during physical activity. He can exert himself physically at peak capacity for at least 24 hours before fatigue begins to impair him.
Superhuman Agility: Wolverine's natural agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Reflexes: Wolverine's reaction time is enhanced to a level that is beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
Adamantium Laced Skeletal Structure: Wolverine's entire skeleton has been infused with a rare, artificially created alloy known as Adamantium. As a result, Wolverine's bones have been rendered highly resistant to all forms of physical damage. However, there is evidence to suggest that the Ultimate Marvel Universe's version of adamantium isn't nearly as durable as its Earth-616 counterpart.
Retractable Claws: Housed within Wolverine's forearms are retractable claws that he is capable of releasing through the flesh between his knuckles at will. The claws rip through the flesh, tearing holes that are almost instantly healed by his healing factor. It became clear that the claws are bone laced with adamantium when it was discovered that Xavier temporarily developed them (as well as the rest of Wolverine's powers) when he used the first version of the drug Banshee, which was derived from Logan's DNA. The claws are as durable as the rest of his skeleton and are capable of cutting most known substances.
-Weaknesses: He has too big of a heart. Women and children will stop him in his tracks every time. Also, Magneto is a major issue as he can control every portion of Wolverine's skeleton.
Weapons: Adamantium laced skeleton.
Team Affiliation: Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy, former Weapon X, Alpha Flight, SHIELD & Royal Canadian National Guard.
History:
Early Years
Wolverine suffered from amnesia. As a result, what little was known about his early life was both suspect and unverifiable. It is believed that, at one point, Wolverine had a wife and child, but they were supposedly murdered by Sabretooth. As both Wolverine's and Sabretooth's memories had been tampered with in the past (most infamously by the Weapon X Project), this claim was highly suspect; however, Wolverine did own a wedding ring that served as his only link to his past.
His earliest known activities were as a paratrooper for the Canadian army during World War II. He was present at the invasion of Sicily, where he attempted to loot a house along with two American soldiers, Private Nicholas Fury and Private Fisk when they were interrupted by American MPs. Fisk was grazed by a bullet and all three were taken away, despite Howlett's protests that he was Canadian.
Later, he awakens inside the Weapon X complex under experimentation by Dr. Abraham Cornelius; who is working for the Canadian government assisting them in their attempts to create their own version of Captain America. James escapes the complex, but is shot as he nears freedom. His wounds miraculously heal and he is recaptured. Cornelius explains that, in their experiments, they accidentally discovered a genome that, when genetically altered, grants the person carrying it various abilities based on their DNA. He calls these altered humans “mutants"; and Howlett is dubbed "Mutant Zero". This genome was later released and spread around the world, resulting in the creation of the mutant race. Some time later, the young mutant son of two Weapon X scientists (Erik Lensherr), who was horrified by how James was being treated, killed his parents and set him free.
Wolverine was eventually recaptured by Col. John Wraith, a mutant-hating commando, and head of the Weapon X Project. His memory was erased and was given the fake name "Logan". It was during this time his skeletal structure was bonded with Adamantium. While with Weapon X, Howlett was often tortured and tormented by Wraith and his men. He developed a hatred for his fellow captive Victor Creed, who (unlike Howlett) enjoyed the violent nature of their work and worked with Wraith voluntarily.
While being deployed in the desert during the Gulf War, the vehicle he was in was ambushed, and Wolverine was set loose from his cage. He slaughtered the enemies and came across Nick Fury, the only other survivor, who was injured. Some part of Logan recognized Fury from the incident in Sicily nearly half a century before so, instead of killing him or leaving him, he carried him back to base; although he was then shot and caged once again. Wraith was surprised that his "living weapon" had still managed to retain some small part of his humanity.
A couple years later, Logan broke out of Weapon X with the help of Fury, who had also come to recognize Logan from the war and to repay him for saving his life earlier.
Wolverine joined Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy, and eventually became Magneto's elite assassin.
Sample Role Play:
'Reports show that mutant pacifist Professor Charles Xavier was attacked by the Sentinel project today in upstate New York. This is the first sighting of the Sentinels in a major city as the creater of the Sentinels Bolivar Trask states they are still working the kinks out of the project, however this shows to be the first failed Sentinel sweep as the mutants known as the X-Men thwarted the capture of the leader of the X-Men. Should we believe the statements Professor X has made claiming not all mutants are violent beings or do we cheer the Sentinel sweeps throughout America? We will have Colonel John Wraith on later to speak about that very subject! Stay tun... zzstz.' The television with a click of his fingers is turned off as Magneto turns his head and looks out the window of his citadel and into the courtyard as hundreds of mutants run and play and enjoy a barbecue. Magneto's white hair is brushed back and his helmet is held in his left hand and long flowing cloak held to the side with his right. "Turn the camera on." Magneto spoke as his helmet floated into the air and splits in two and then forms back into one piece around his head.
His son, Quicksilver then in almost the speed of light darts around the room and appears next to Magneto. "It's on." He said as Magneto then sits himself in his throne with his Brotherhood surrounding him. On his right side stands Quicksilver closest to him and Blob next to him, on the other his daughter Scarlet Witch with Toad and Mastermind next to them. "The United States Government claims that they are making America a better place to live by sending robot killing machines to wipe out the homo-superior race. Know this my mutant brothers and sisters. You are my family and you are welcome to live with me at my citadel, and for every mutant that the Sentinels kill will just ensure the death of 10 politicians. The bombings will intensify if you continue this robotic onslaught. Our time as the dominant species on this planet is here. We will replace the homo-sapiens, this is not the word of a mad terrorist, this is science speaking. The Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy has chosen our side. Where do you stand?" He finished his speech as Quicksilver instantly darted to the camera to turn it off. "I'll have it to every news center in the world within the hour." Quicksilver said hoping badly to make his father proud as Magneto stood and turned his back to his son, ignoring him completely.
"That how you really expect to win a war, Erik?" A rasp voice called out as Magneto turned his head quickly to discover Wolverine entering the main meeting room of the Brotherhood. "Please Wolverine, you know I hate being called by my primitive name, and yes, the homo-sapiens know nothing better then death and destruction." Magneto said looking at the shorter mercenary from across the room.
The Brotherhood was so terrified of Wolverine that they never spoke up around him. "Listen... Magneto. I know I don't have the memory of it anymore after the doctors played tricks on my mind, but for whatever reason I trust that what you say is true and that you took alot of risks in life to save my ass when I was a test subject at Weapon X and for that I've been repaying my dues as part of this Brotherhood. But I aint goin to Manhatten to blow innocent people up bub." Logan called out with a snarl and clenched fists. "Wolverine, as I promised, you will only do solo work. Not to mention, I'm sure we are all aware by now that Quicksilver is the only one detonating bombs." Magneto said in disgust turning his head to Wolverine and looking back out onto the courtyard. "It turns my soul for every life taken. I have not even consumed meat in eight years. The loss of any life is tragic, but when it becomes a matter of fighting or dying. We will fight until the homo sapien's are licking my boots or rotting under ground." Magneto said with clenched fists of his own.
Wolverine reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigar and lit it while taking a puff off of it. "Whatever you say... that aint my deal." Logan said keeping his cigar pursed between his lips as he tucked his hair into an unkept pony tail. "I got your note early today. Plane ticket to New York's cashed. I'll be infiltrating the X-Men before the weeks out." Magneto scoffed at the thought of his most important mission being taken so nonchalantly. "And you think you can just knock on Xavier's front door?" He said with a raised eye. "Aint like that bub. I'll take care of things the old fashion way. Pound the pavement, follow leads, and comb the city til I know i can infiltrate. Aint like this is my first rodeo." Logan said as he turned and began walking out of the meeting room. "Don't let your cronies get in the way." Wolverine said as he made his way out of the sight of the Brotherhood.
