RPers name: Eric
Full Name: Henry McCoy
Code Name: Beast
Gender: Male
General Appearance: Hank is a very muscular set man, due to his mutation. He is built like a stalky pro wrestler. He stands at only 5'7" but weighs 180lbs. He wears very laid back clothes when not in uniform, or wearing his lab coat. He can sometimes be seen wearing Hawaiian shirts and sandals even in his lab coat.
Personality: Beast is a bubbly personality, he can be very friendly, and is sometime reluctant to be out going, but when forced he can stand on his own. Some of his history of abuse based on his genetics, have carried over with him into his late teens. He is very hesitant to let people into his life on a closer level. He is scared of being hurt, or rejected because of his mutant powers. Beast will sacrifice himself for his friends, but would be hard pressed to think anyone would do the same for him. He is a hopeless romantic, but lacks any type of confidence to remain in a relationship.
Occupation: Student
Super Power: Beast is exceptionally agile, a skilled acrobat and superhumanly strong. His clawed hands and prehensile feet make him an excellent climber
-Weaknesses: Hank may be nimble and agile, but his size can still be a problem against smaller items, and quicker foes. He has confidence issues, and his emotions can get the best of him in a hard situation.
Any additional info: Hank has a genius level IQ. He possesses the keenest mind of all the X-Men
Weapons: The Beast possesses a fully-equipped laboratory. Presumably it holds the latest in biological and material analysis devices
Team Affiliation: X-Men
History: Hank McCoy had a rough childhood. Not because of his genius IQ, but because his parents and peers were all racist against mutants, while he suspected himself of being one. (Post this start up RPG: He was a founding member of the X-Men and the team's elite scientist/engineer. As a technical genius, he frequently upgraded the X-Men's Blackbird and Danger Room sequences.
Hank was the on again/off again boyfriend of Storm (Ororo Munroe). Hank developed an inferiority complex due to his traumatic childhood, and it often got in the way of their relationship. Scientists of Weapon X tampered with his genetic makeup, enhancing his senses and causing him to grow fangs and become covered in blue fur; now even more insecure, Hank came to the conclusion that Professor X was using mind control on Ororo to make her love him so he'd stay with the X-Men. This led to a temporary break up between them.
Faking Death
Beast seemingly died when he was crushed by rubble during a Sentinel attack. His death devastated Storm, who then became more deeply committed to the X-Men.
Hank was under Top-Secret Government house arrest in laboratories miles below the Triskelion. Professor X as well as Nick Fury decided that faking his death and altering his mind to think that he was keeping in contact with friends and family was the best way to focus his genius on the growing legacy virus problem in "Project Legacy". He only recently became aware of their plot, but rather than confusing those he loved, he reluctantly agreed to continue working on the legacy antidote.
He later rescued Pyro, and shocked his former teammates by revealing that he was still alive. After being proved to be the real Beast by Psylocke and Wolverine, he was allowed to join Bishop's new X-Men and continued his relationship with Storm.
Ultimatum and Actual Death
During Magneto's flooding of New York, Hank was pushed by the water into a store where he was killed either by drowning or the impact of hitting the store)
Sample Role Play:
"Professor, what do you think makes you dream?" "Well, Hank, I assume it's the body telling you the things you wish not to utter out loud." Hank was nose deep into a book, when he heard Charles Xavier walk by. "Actually, Accumulated observation has shown that dreams are strongly associated with rapid eye movement sleep, during which an electroencephalogram shows brain activity that, among sleep states, is most like wakefulness. Participant-remembered dreams during NREM sleep are normally more mundane in comparison. During a typical lifespan, a person spends a total of about six years dreaming (which is about two hours each night). Most dreams only last 5 to 20 minutes. It is unknown where in the brain dreams originate, if there is a single origin for dreams or if multiple portions of the brain are involved, or what the purpose of dreaming is for the body or mind. During REM sleep, the release of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine, serotonin and histamine is completely suppressed."
Charles rolled his eyes, and smiled lightly. "I do not know why you ask such questions Henry, when you know the answer yourself." Beast put down his book, and smiled back at the professor. "I suppose for the same reason you answered the question, even though you knew of my knowledge. The human minds desire for interaction, despite the need for it on a mundane basis."
Xavier moved himself closer to Beast, and put a hand down on his shoulder. "Well then, in that case my turn to ask a question. Why do you not spend your free session, outside playing sports with the other men, and even Jean?" Beast looked down, then buried his face back into his book. "Despite my size, and probable skill, I gave up such activities long ago. I feel like an outcast, hiding in a group of out casts."
Xavier opened the window, to the field outside. There the other X-Men we enjoying themselves. He looked down to Hank, then back out the window. Hank looked up, and the two locked in silence. Hank eventually took the hint, and put down his book. "I warn you professor, if Bobby ices up my pants again, I swear to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, I will never leave this library again."
Beast huffed, and puffed, and headed out the door. The Professor watched as he awkwardly approached the rest of the class. The group made eye contact, and they all paused for a moment. With little to no hesitation, Cyclops threw Hank the ball and bragged to the others about the new member of his team.
Xavier smiled to himself. "They are your family now Hank, they will love you."
