The Ultimate Universe Reborn:
Although the Marvel comics Ultimate Universe is our inspiration at the start of this forum, we are not bound by what they did in the comics! We just allow the #1 issues of each book (Ultimates, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four & X-Men) as our rough jumping off point to create our own unique universe...
-Peter Parker gets bitten by a genetically-mutated spider during a class visit to Osborn Industries. The spider was part of the scientific experimentations there. Norman Osborn decides to track Peter’s progress. After several instances of fainting and displaying extraordinary strength and reflexes, Peter realises the bite gifted him powers. On one occasion, Peter breaks his bully, Flash Thompson’s hand. When Flash’s family decide to sue, Peter becomes part of a local wrestling circuit as the masked “Amazing Spiderman” to anonymously pay for his Aunt May and Uncle Ben’s legal fees. Peter also gets his Spiderman suit courtesy of the wrestling organisation. Peter does not reveal this secret double-life to anybody, not even his crush Mary Jane Watson and friend Harry Osborn. Peter flees the wrestling organisation after being accused of stealing. Disgruntled, he allows a burglar to escape after robbing a deli owner. Peter returns home where his aunt and uncle berate him for his failing academic grades. Ben informs Peter of the “with great power, comes great responsibility” ethos that Peter’s father abided by. Peter runs away only to return to find that Uncle Ben had been murdered by the same burglar Peter had earlier ignored. Peter tracks down Ben’s killer, subdues him and hands the killer over to the police, now understanding what Ben had previously told him. Meanwhile, Norman Osborn injects himself with an OZ formula, gaining confidence by tracking the effects the spider formula had on Peter. As a result, Norman turns into the monstrous Green Goblin.
- Magneto, the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy has declared war on all homo-sapiens. The government initiates the Sentinel project and begins test runs, wiping out mutants in select cities. Professor Xavier a former colleague of Magneto's, along side Marvel Girl and Cyclops create the X-Men and the Xavier's School for Gifted Children in hopes to recruit more to the X-Men and Xaviers dream of coexistence between Homo-Sapien and Homo-Superior.
- General Nick Fury of the international peacekeeping agency S.H.I.E.L.D. establishes a strike force of government-sponsored metahumans when the President of the United States approves a new defense budget to combat the growing risk of the U.S. being attacked by supervillains. The team, dubbed the Ultimates, includes Tony Stark (Iron Man) and scientist couple Hank and Janet Pym (Giant-Man and the Wasp) and take up residence in the Triskelion, an island laboratory run by S.H.I.E.L.D.
- Reed Richards is a child prodigy, protected by his burly friend Ben Grimm from bullies, and a genius who had invented a method of teleportation in his youth. He is discovered by government official Willie Lumpkin, and subsequently recruited into a child prodigy think tank/school located in the upper floors of the Baxter building. There he meets Professor Storm, who leads the project, and his children, bioengineer Susan Storm and her younger brother Johnny. Reed also becomes the rival of Victor Van Damme, a fellow student. When Reed becomes 21, he plans to teleport an apple into a parallel universe (the "N-Zone"), but Van Damme claims Reed's calculations are wrong and changes the setup at the last minute. The five students get teleported through the N-Zone, and when they rematerialize, they return heavily mutated.
