OOC: I am willing to consider others being involved in this thread. However given I want to maintain a certain feel to this, I would request that if you wish to be involved you ask first. And of course you'd need a reason to be on the Triskelion
IC: Victor Van Damme was not well pleased, not well pleased at all. He may not have thought much of the others interred at the Baxter Building as they developed their individual projects, but at least there he could seclude himself in his laboratory and focus exclusively on his projects and research if he so desired. But now... they expected him to outreach. To learn from others in the field. Lesser men would have been excited to be working with someone with a big name like Tony Stark. There were plenty out there who would have given their right hand for such an experience. But not Victor Van Damme. For him this was just yet another indignity levied upon him by lesser men.
He stepped off the helicopter with his hands shoved in his pockets, his ebony hair rippling from the wind created by the vehicle's displacement of the air. There were figures moving about all over the compound, busy on whatever various errands to which they had been assigned. Vic wondered briefly how many of them had a fraction of the intellectual capacity to understand what he'd rather be doing now. The only grudging silver lining to the entire ordeal was that he would have the opportunity to observe the technology of an individual whose work he did respect (though his personal life choices and breeding he was considerably less respectful of).

The fun thing about working with S.H.I.E.L.D and being a part of the Ultimates had to be the access to certain.. off limits technologies. Now, normally Tony Stark wouldn't care, he had more money than God and he could no doubt build something in a cave with a box of scrapes and it would out do just about anything that S.H.I.E.L.D could offer. Working together was always fun because he was able to pretty much do anything he wanted in the ways of Research and Development and considering they wanted to keep Mister Stark happy, he was in the drivers seat.
Today though was an interesting day, he had a young intern coming his way but sadly it wasn't the sexy kind of intern that he could probably fantasize about. No in this case it was a kid from New York who was born in Europe that had been staying in the Baxter Building, a think tank where the government could put young geniuses to work in relative comfort. Now he was here getting on the job training with one of the more gifted minds in the world. Given word that the young man was here, Tony told his attendants to bring him in.
This should be fun.

The surly young man barely dipped his head in acknowledgement as an aid came to get him. Setting the scene and controlling the situation. Clearly wants to demonstrate his own sense of authority and power. Thought the young man, he pushed his hands into his pockets as he walked, keeping his countenance as stony and non-emotive as possible. No need to telegraph how much you don't want to be here. If wasn't long till he was there. The young man was in his early twenties, and even though he was trying to play things down and be 'nice' (nice for Vic, not nice for everyone else), the level of confidence the young man exuded was palpable. Given the contrasting egos between the two it was a wonder both of them could fit in the same room. "Mister Stark? Victor van Damme to see you." said the aid. Victor didn't say anything just yet, his father had taught him manners. And right now it was only polite to give deference. For now. ((OOC: Here's the picture I'm using for pre-accident Victor ))

"Ah yes, of course. Welcome Mister Van Damme, fresh from the think tank," he said with a smile as he offered a hand for a hand shake. If Stark was honest he knew very little about the young man before him, he'd read the files but they didn't really paint a decent enough picture. He was well aware that the true measure of a man could not be written down on a piece of paper. Tony Stark didn't really take interns but it was a favor to the higher ups, the least he could do was help one of the countries whiz kids for however long this was supposed to go on.
"So tell me a little about yourself Victor, what brings you here?" Tony asked the young man. He could probably guess his answer but it really wasn't about the answer. It was more about how he answered it and the way that he answered. One could learn a lot about someone, all they had to do was watch and listen.

Victor had long ago learned to don the metaphorical mask. His father had beaten the need to never divulge a weakness, never betray an emotion into him from an early age. And now that skill truly came into play.
Stark never had to know that he thought he was a hack of a craftsman with no real appreciation for the art of science. How energy and matter and motion and vector and a billion other factors wove themselves together into a symphony. Even the wonder-boy Richards didn't understand. Couldn't understand. And neither could Stark. It was a facet of their lesser breeding. Stark came from a line of craftsmen and peddlers. Yes, the modern era of dollars and cents vaunted his family as the nobility of modern engineering. The cutting edge of science. But genes are genes. And Stark's genes were that of glorified watchmakers.
And that is not to say that one could not learn to replicate the skills. Kings often times do not have the time to be innovators. It is in the implication and the integration of innovation that the true art of leadership lies. And one day Victor would show them. Show Stark. Show Doctor Storm. Show the wonder-brat Richards. Show them all.
But for now, he had to play ball. And for now he wore the mask.
"I am here, because I'm the best our think tank has to offer in applied physics and mechanical engineering. My area of specialization is robotics. And I was assigned to you because you're one of the foremost experts in the field."

Well at least he knew why he was here and considering his little ego that Tony recognized, he thought that this might be interesting. Having to show the ropes to a kid who thought himself better than all the other people in the Think Tank, that took balls to say really. He looked the kid up and down a little bit more, learning his focus on applied physics and mechanical engineering. It seemed like the two of them would be a perfect match though he wondered how so much ego could exist in one room.
"Well alright then, at least you'll be able to keep up then. Speaking with people that just don't understand.. it's like they need to learn to speak english," he said with a bit of a smirk, joking a bit about the normal people he'd try to explain his work to but they never understood. At least Mister Van Damme would understand. "Come on then, you can have a look at my newest experiment and see what you think." With that Tony Stark led the young man to his lap where the fabricators were going to work and the plans were still being worked on.
