I've some talk lately about the origins of mutants for this message board.
Of course, in the 616 Universe they are an Evolutionary offshoot and a possible way for people to be born. Sometimes activating in their teens, sometimes at birth.
However, later in the Ultimate Universe, it was proven to be a science experiment. Wolverines DNA was used to create all mutants.
I for one, personally hate the Ultimate version. I think they wanted to get a cheap twist ending to Ultimatum, and they did it by pissing all over the X-Men mythos.
So I wanted to ask everyone elses' opinion on which way the board should go, since we are technically re-writing the universe. But until now we were always taking what DID happen, and twist the way it happens. This would change that. But hopefully just for big events we want to alter.
So sound off below, do we keep it, because you either like the idea, or you feel we need to be true to these large scale events? Or do we change it, because you like the 616 more, or are afraid your X-Men character may lack motivation since you know the truth?
